A two day State Managers Orientation Workshop was organized on 18-19 February’2008 at Guwahati. The primary objectives of the workshop were to locate Community Monitoring within the larger NRHM Implementation Framework, to share process of implementation at different levels, the financial flow, the organizational set up, to finalise blocks and the corresponding civil society facilitating organizations ,
to develop a realistic time plan for implementation in the state given agricultural / monsoon and festival cycles ,to chart out the specific expectations, commitments, roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders involved at various
levels.
The programme was started off with a welcome and objective sharing note by Mr. Z.A. Abbas, State NGO Coordinator who highlighted that stake holders of Community based Monitoring process has a crucial role in fulfilling commitments for standards and guarantees for service quality and triangulated monitoring systems for assuring quality.
Dr.A.C. Baishya, Project Director, RRC ,NE,NRHM spoke in brief about the Health Services system in the State.Dr. Baishya started off with sub , center infrastructure, responsibilities ,jurisdiction, water ,electricity , utilization of untied fund .also explains about BPHC, MPHCs, State Dispensaries, CHCs ,additional positioning of man power to fulfill the commitment of 24/7 hrs service availability under NRHM and level of care provided. Community based monitoring process will serve as a supportive supervision to improve and maintain the quality of care-Dr. Baishya concluded .
