Education Program
Muskaan's goals is to impart meaningful learning in the anticipation that it would enable children to be able to choose what they would want to do, reflect on the course of their lives and build their motivation and skills. Its education programme goes beyond traditional classroom learning to help students overcome educational challenges! Through alternative teaching methods and curricular material (in Hindi, English and Mathematics) that are relevant to the lives of the children, learning becomes attractive and sustains their attention and retention.
The education programmes start with balwadi centers located within the slums for children aged 3 to 6. After attending balwadis, children attend the alternative learning center, Jivan Shiksha Pahel or join a government school. Muskaan helps students study for class 5th, 10th and 12th exams after which support is given for successful students to continue their studies.
Muskaan also works in teacher support and training to government schools. Read more about our education programs by clicking on their tabs to the left!
For both boys and girls Muskaan runs residential learning camps, where 30 students for a three to four month intensive learning course.
Students study independently under the guidance of Muskaan because the kind of education that is imparted by the formal education system in schools is alien and uninteresting for children and is often lacking in content which children can relate to.
