Making this website
This website has been conceptualised and designed by the senior girl students as a part of their computer class. The girls are first generation learners and began to learn computers as an extra curricular, enjoyable activity. Over time their skills evolved and while exploring and discovering the wonders and possibilities of computers, they decided to design this website, as a project. A workshop on website development was weaved into the curriculum and Gayatri Buragohain, a website developer and founder of the Feminist Approach to Technology requested to be the resource person for this workshop.
After permuting and combining, making and breaking, disagreeing, arguing and much patient moderation, theoretical and practical input, several designs and methods of presentation were developed by the participants.
And here it is…the one selected after much deliberation!!! We hope you enjoy browsing this website as much as the children enjoyed and worked on bringing together. The design of this website was eventually frozen only on the grounds that it is work in progress. Therefore, do feel free to tell us what you think. And give your suggestions. If the group likes them, they will incorporate them, if they don’t …never mind.
